Each My Countdown Friend is personalized with one ribbon for every scheduled chemotherapy or radiation treatment.
Ribbon colors are often associated with particular types of cancer. You may, if you wish, choose one of the eight colors based simply on what has special meaning for the recipient, a favorite color, or a color you think the recipient will like.
The most meaningful choice is the one that feels right for the person receiving the Countdown Friend.
Eight Available Colors
Pink
Commonly associated with breast cancer.
White
Commonly associated with lung cancer.
Orange
Commonly associated with leukemia and kidney cancer.
Yellow
Commonly associated with bone cancer and sarcoma.
Light Blue
Commonly associated with prostate cancer.
Dark Blue
Commonly associated with colorectal cancer.
Purple
Commonly associated with pancreatic cancer.
Please note: Cancer-awareness ribbon colors are not governed by a single universal standard. Associations may vary among organizations and communities. The examples above represent commonly recognized associations.
Choosing a Color
Cancer-awareness ribbon colors can provide a meaningful connection to a particular type of cancer, but there is no requirement to choose a cancer-associated color.
A favorite color, a personally meaningful color, or simply a color you think the recipient will enjoy can be equally appropriate.
The ribbon's most important role on a Countdown Friend is simple: each ribbon represents one scheduled treatment.
